Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi called on by a delegation of the Sikh community led by Sardar Parvinder Singh at the Governor’s House on Monday. During the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding the issues faced by the Sikh community in Peshawar, including matters related to religious freedom and community facilities. The delegation apprised the Governor of various problems being faced by the Sikh community and requested that the Gurdwara located in Saddar be reopened to facilitate the performance of religious rituals. Governor Faisal Karim Kundi assured the delegation that he would take up the matter with the Federal Minister for Religious Affairs to ensure an appropriate resolution. The delegation also invited the Governor to visit Nankana Sahib, which he graciously accepted.

The Sikh representatives further demanded that the Anand Karaj Bill be passed by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly to give legal recognition to Sikh marriage ceremonies. Governor Kundi assured them that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has always taken practical steps to safeguard and promote the rights of minorities. He added that the party’s parliamentary leader in the provincial assembly, Ahmad Karim Kundi, would play a key role in advancing the bill. Governor Kundi reaffirmed that all minority communities residing in the province enjoy equal constitutional rights and that the government is committed to addressing their concerns. He appreciated the constructive role of the Sikh community and emphasized that interfaith harmony forms the foundation of a strong and peaceful society.
