PESHAWAR: MAY 13, 2026:
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Wednesday conferred presidential civil awards on 33 personalities of the province during a prestigious ceremony held at Governor House. The Governor, on behalf of the President of Pakistan, awarded Sitara-i-Imtiaz to eight personalities, Presidential Pride of Performance to two individuals, Tamgha-i-Shujaat to 11 personalities and Tamgha-i-Imtiaz to 12 individuals in recognition of their outstanding services in various fields. Those who received Sitara-i-Imtiaz included Chief Secretary Gilgit Baltistan Arshad Majeed, SSP Ataur Rehman, Shahabuddin Khan, Muhammad Israr and Syed Salman Rehman for public services. Former women cricketer Sana Mir was awarded Sitara-i-Imtiaz for achievements in sports, while Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi received the award for journalism. Shaheed Rehan Zeb was awarded Sitara-i-Imtiaz posthumously for public services. The Governor conferred Presidential Pride of Performance on Jamshed Ali Khan in the field of arts, direction and production, and on Aminullah Daudzai for literature and poetry. Tamgha-i-Shujaat was awarded to Umar Tufail, Captain (Retd) Najam-ul-Hasnain Liaqat, Saeed Manan, Malik Gohar Ali, Sepoy Basitullah, Sepoy Samiullah Shah, Sepoy Sabir Ali, Sepoy Sahib Din, DSP Pir Syed Khan and ASI Saleh Muhammad for acts of bravery, while Nawab Adil Khan received the award for public services. Tamgha-i-Imtiaz was conferred upon Tariq Mahmood Jadoon for education, Muhammad Hamza Khan for sports (squash) and Maulana Muhammad Tayyab Qureshi for religious services. Dr Muhammad Akif Khan, Muhammad Zahoor Awan, Muhammad Hilal, Naik Safaid Khan, Abdul Rahim, Abidullah and Muhammad Ali Swati were awarded Tamgha-i-Imtiaz for public services, while Syed Samar Abbas and Ms Mona Alam received the award for journalism. The ceremony was attended by Commandant Federal Constabulary Muhammad Riaz Nazir Gara, heads of administrative departments, civil and military officials, and relatives of the award recipients
