AZAD KASHMIR: JUNE 15, 2025.
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, lauded the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people along the Line of Control (LoC) during the recent hostilities between Pakistan and India, saying that despite limited resources, Pakistan's armed forces defeated India through sheer determination and faith. He expressed these views while addressing a reception held in his honor by Raja Mubashir Ejaz, Divisional General Secretary of PPP Poonch Dhirkot here on Sunday. Governor Kundi emphasized that Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire during the conflict on the condition of initiating talks on Kashmir, highlighting that Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has been actively advocating Pakistan and Kashmir’s case on international platforms, following the legacy of his grandfather and martyred mother. “Insha’Allah, Pakistan will win the case for Kashmir soon,” he said.
The reception was attended by prominent Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leaders, including Chaudhry Muhammad Riaz, AJK Minister for Local Government Chaudhry Qasim Majeed, and other senior party officials. Calling PPP a true political family, Governor Kundi expressed gratitude to President Asif Ali Zardari, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and Faryal Talpur for appointing a party worker as Governor. “Previously, I served as Deputy Speaker and Minister of State with the party’s confidence, and now I aim to fulfill my responsibilities with integrity,” he said. He criticized the current federal budget, claiming it ignored the rights of the public, government employees, and farmers. “We are allies of the federal government, not part of it, and we believe in constructive criticism. We will raise our voice in Parliament against injustices in the budget,” he added. Governor Kundi also condemned the past performance of PTI in KP, accusing it of surrendering the province back to terrorists and engaging in massive corruption. “From Kohistan’s Rs. 50 billion scandal to solar project funds for mosques being misused, and corruption in sugar, wheat, and health sectors they have looted across the board,” he remarked. Regarding the upcoming elections in Azad Kashmir, Governor Kundi said that PPP has a strong chance to form the government. “The party has a proven track record of public service in the region. With unity and determination, we can once again bring a PPP-led era of prosperity to Kashmir. Soon, a ‘Jiyala’ will be the Prime Minister here as well,” he asserted.
