PESHAWAR: JUNE 23, 2025.
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Monday called for a collective effort to maintain peace during Moharram and stressed the importance of inter-sectarian harmony and unity. He said this in a meeting with a delegation of the Imamia Jirga Khyber Pakhtunkhwa held at the Governor House. The delegation was led by President Farzand Ali Bangash and included General Secretary Sardar Aqeel Hussain, Coordination Secretary Sardar Ibrahim Hussain, and other prominent figures of the Shia community. During the meeting, the delegation discussed preparations for Moharram and raised concerns about law and order, particularly in sensitive districts such as Parachinar and Dera Ismail Khan.
The Governor listened attentively to the delegation's concerns and assured them of his full cooperation in addressing the issues raised. Governor Kundi emphasized that the province continues to face terrorism backed by hostile elements, particularly from India. He said that several districts, especially the merged district of Kurram and Dera Ismail Khan, are highly sensitive during the month of Moharram. “All schools of thought must show mutual cooperation and coordination to ensure peace during this sacred month,” he said, adding that the provincial administration is committed to ensuring security and well-managed arrangements throughout the province.
The delegation expressed gratitude for the Governor’s attention and support towards their concerns and assured their cooperation in promoting peace and unity.
