ISLAMABAD: OCT 7, 2025:
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Wednesday visited the National Press Club (NPC) Islamabad and strongly condemned the recent attack on the club, terming it one of the most regrettable incidents in the country’s history. Addressing Press Conference, Governor Kundi said that no words were enough to denounce the incident, adding that violence against journalists was both shameful and unacceptable.
He emphasized that politicians and journalists have always shared a strong and historic bond. He urged the government to accept and implement the National Press Club’s Charter of Demands, assuring full support to the journalist community. “I stand firmly with the National Press Club and will personally speak to the Interior Minister to ensure immediate implementation of their charter,” he said. Kundi stressed that all disputes whether political or regional should be resolved through dialogue, citing the recent situation in Azad Kashmir as an example where negotiations led to a peaceful resolution. Expressing concern over the worsening security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he criticized the withdrawal of security for Awami National Party’s Aimal Wali Khan and PPP Parliamentary Leader Ali Haider Gillani, calling it a dangerous move. “Are you trying to send a message to terrorists that these leaders are now unprotected?” he asked. He also questioned the “inconsistent stance” of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, saying, “He says one thing at night and another in the morning.”
Earlier, Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) President Afzal Butt, NPC President Azhar Jatoi, and other office bearers thanked Governor Faisal Karim Kundi for his visit and solidarity with the journalist community.
