Governor calls for preparing globally competitive pharmacists to strengthen healthcare
PESHAWAR, Sep 25: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Friday said he was proud of the potential of the province's youth and described pharmacists as a vital pillar of the healthcare system. He stressed the need to prepare globally competitive professionals to meet emerging challenges in the pharmaceutical sector.
Addressing a ceremony held in connection with World Pharmacists Day here, the Governor said pharmacists played a key role in ensuring the safe and effective use of medicines and in improving public health.
He congratulated pharmacists on their international day and said rapid advancements in medicines, medical research and technology were creating new opportunities for the profession.
Kundi emphasized the importance of ensuring the availability of quality medicines in remote areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and called for effective measures to curb the sale of counterfeit and substandard drugs.
The Governor said the youth were Pakistan's greatest asset and urged students to complement academic learning with practical knowledge and modern technological skills.
He expressed confidence that Pakistani pharmacists could earn global recognition through professional excellence, adding that the country should focus on producing pharmacists capable of meeting international standards and benefiting from growing opportunities worldwide.
President of the Pakistan Pharmacists Association Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bakht Karam Ghafoor, Vice President Dr Atiqa Naz, General Secretary Dr Farman Ullah, President Young Pharmacists Community Junaid Iqbal, Director General Drugs and Pharmacy Services Dr Abbas, Pharmacy Council Secretary Ibrahim and other association office-bearers and pharmacists attended the ceremony.
