Mr. Haji Ghulam ALi is the 33RD Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, having assumed office on November 23, 2022. During his political career, In March 2009 he was elected to the Senate of Pakistan on general seat.He is the chairperson of senate committee on Commerce and Textile Industry, and member: committee of States and Frontier Regions, Inter-Provincial Coordination and Parliamentary Affairs.
Mr. Haji Ghulam Ali has also been member of several parliamentary committees including, Steering Committee on Capacity Building Abroad, Ehtisaab Commission Bill, 2013 and Select Committee on Local Government. By virtue of section-9 of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Universities Act-2012, Governor is the Chancellor of Public Sector Universities in the province. The hon’able Governor is very keen to uplift the standards of higher education in the province. By taking personal interest, the Governor has proposed several amendments in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Universities Act-2012 in order to ensure accountability of university administration and enhance the standards of higher education.
In addition to above, the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is the President of Pakistan Red Crescent Society, KP & erstwhile FATA branches. The Governor, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is also leading the Board of Governors, Edwards College, Peshawar & Institute of Management Sciences as Chairman BoG and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Boy Scouts Association as Chief Scout.
