Governor calls for unified strategy to counter terrorism in KP
PESHAWAR, Aug 13 2026:
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Thursday called for a coordinated and result-oriented strategy involving all stakeholders to combat terrorism and restore lasting peace in the province.
During a visit to the residence of martyred DSP Diyar Khan, the Governor offered Fateha and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family.
He said the police officer had sacrificed his life in the line of duty and assured the martyr’s family of continued support.
Kundi paid tribute to the personnel of police, army, FC and other security forces who had laid down their lives for the country and said their sacrifices would always be remembered. He also paid homage to all martyrs on the occasion of Independence Day.
He said the evolving security situation required enhanced capabilities of the police, particularly in view of terrorists having access to modern weapons and technology.
He stressed the provision of night-vision devices, thermal imaging systems and anti-drone equipment to police personnel.
The Governor maintained that peace was a prerequisite for political stability, elections and economic development.
He urged the federal and provincial governments to set aside differences and work jointly to address the security challenges facing the province.
He also called for political disputes to be resolved through dialogue rather than street protests or confrontation, saying the provincial government should engage with the federal government and other stakeholders to develop a common approach to maintaining peace.
Expressing concern over recent incidents in Hangu, Bajaur, Dir and Swat, Faisal Karim Kundi said the authorities should take timely measures instead of waiting for a major incident to occur.
He urged the Prime Minister to convene a meeting of the Apex Committee in KP to review the security situation and devise an effective response.
The Governor further stressed the need for implementation of decisions taken by the National Security Committee and the National Security Plan to strengthen the province's security framework.
