PESHAWAR: JAN 14, 2026:
A delegation of the National Peace Message Committee, led by Maulana Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, called on Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi at the Governor House here on Wednesday and reaffirmed its full support for peace and stability in the province.The delegation included Mufti Abdul Rahim, Allama Arif Hussain Wahidi, Pir Naqeeb ur Rehman, Allama Muhammad Hussain Akbar, Allama Ziaullah Shah Bukhari, Maulana Zubair Faheem, Dr Mufti Muhammad Kareem Khan, Mufti Muhammad Yousaf Khan, Allama Dr Muhammad Asif Akbar Qadri, Maulana Muhammad Adil Attari, Maulana Muhammad Tauqeer Abbas and Maulana Zahid Mansoor.
During the meeting, the scholars assured the Governor of their complete cooperation and active role in promoting peace and stability in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They informed that this was the first visit of the National Peace Message Committee to the province and emphasized that scholars from all schools of thought stand united with the state, the people and the armed forces against Fitna-ul-Khawarij and all forms of terrorism.The delegation said that those involved in the killing of innocent civilians, police and security personnel in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have no connection with Islam. They added that religious scholars across the country stand shoulder to shoulder with the people and armed forces of the province for the complete elimination of terrorism. The scholars also highlighted that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have rendered immense sacrifices in the fight against terrorism and once again require unity of the Ummah to eradicate the menace of terrorists.
Governor Faisal Karim Kundi thanked the delegation for choosing Peshawar for its first visit and said that with the cooperation of religious scholars and the strength of the people, terrorism would be eliminated completely from the province. He said that the role of the National Peace Message Committee was extremely important in countering terrorism, extremism and ensuring lasting peace. The Governor said that religious scholars and leaders hold a respected position in society and can play a vital role in promoting harmony. He expressed concern over the increase in terrorist incidents originating from Afghan soil and stressed the need to eliminate regional, linguistic and sectarian hatred in the prevailing situation. He said that by implementing the message of “Paigham-e-Pakistan,” enemies would not be able to create divisions among the people. He emphasized the protection of social values and urged unity, tolerance and restraint to move forward collectively for peace and stability in the province.
