PESHAWAR: JANUARY 27, 2026:
Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Tuesday held a meeting with the jirga of Utman Khel National Alliance at the Governor House and assured them of his support in addressing their longstanding demands related to administrative status and development of Utman Khel populated areas. The jirga was led by prominent Utman Khel leader Parvez Akhtar, while other members of the delegation included Malik Bahadar Shah, Malik Muhammadi Shah, Malik Mukammal Shah, Malik Malook Khan and others. During the meeting, the delegation briefed the Governor in detail about the issues being faced by the Utman Khel community residing in Malakand, Mohmand and Bajaur districts. They demanded the establishment of a separate district comprising Utman Khel populated areas of these districts and called for declaring Koh-e-Mor Park in Bajaur as a national park. The jirga also urged allocation of royalty, provision of jobs and electricity to the Utman Khel community from Mohmand Dam, a share in royalty from Mohmand nephrite and copper resources, construction of a motorway linking Mohmand and Bajaur from Pley Interchange, and establishment of girls’ and boys’ colleges along with hospitals in Utman Khel areas. Assuring the delegation, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi said that the issues of the Utman Khel community were genuine and longstanding. He reiterated that he would play an active role, within the ambit of his constitutional responsibilities, to help resolve these matters. The Governor added that demands related to creation of new districts, royalty, employment opportunities, education, health and infrastructure would be taken up with the relevant federal institutions to ensure tangible progress.
