Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi visited Bara tehsil of merged district Khyber on Wednesday and attended a relief distribution ceremony for the affectees of Tirah Valley organized by the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) at Dogra. The Governor, accompanied by Leader of the Opposition in the KP Assembly Dr Ibadullah Khan, Chairman PRCS Imran Wazir met local elders of Bara and temporary displaced persons (TDPs) from Tirah Valley. On the instructions of the Governor of Punjab, PRCS Punjab dispatched relief consignments which were distributed by PRCS Merged Districts. The relief packages, each weighing 20 kilograms, included flour, rice, sugar, ghee, other essential food items and bottles of clean drinking water.

Besides, PRCS Merged Districts has set up a medical camp in Bara where affectees are being provided medical treatment along with free medicines. Talking to the media, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi said he visited Bara to assess ground realities. He said statements by the Chief Minister and provincial leaders had created an impression that a military operation would soon be launched in Tirah, while the federal government had already clarified its position. He said irresponsible statements by the provincial government forced the people of Tirah to migrate, claiming that nearly 60 percent of the displacement occurred due to statements issued by PTI and the provincial government. He urged the provincial government to improve governance and form a committee to engage with the federal government, assuring cooperation. The Governor said PTI was pursuing a politics of confrontation instead of dialogue, adding that abusive language could not resolve issues. Expressing concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said people were being forced to seek medical treatment in other provinces and stressed the need for practical steps to restore peace. The Governor also remarked that PTI had split into two factions. Reaffirming his commitment, Governor Kundi said all possible assistance would be provided to the Tirah affectees and they would not be left alone. He added that, on his directions, PRCS Merged Districts had established relief camps at various locations and would continue relief activities.
