Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Friday chaired a meeting at the Governor House to review the performance of the Accountant General Khyber Pakhtunkhwa office. The meeting was attended by Accountant General KP Khalid Mahmood, Additional Accountant General Saif-ul-Islam and Principal Secretary to Governor Zubair Arshad.

During the meeting, the Governor was given a detailed briefing on the functions, objectives and overall performance of the Accountant General KP office. The Governor was informed about the comprehensive mechanism for payment of salaries, pensions, bills and issuance of cheques through the Accountant General KP and district accounts offices. He was also briefed on institutional policies and measures adopted by the AG office to ensure transparency in financial matters. The briefing highlighted the online billing solution introduced by the AG office for timely and transparent submission of bills by government departments. It was informed that all government departments can now submit bills online, which has improved transparency and saved time. The meeting was further informed that through a modern micro-payment gateway system, salaries and pensions of government employees are being transferred directly to their bank accounts. The Governor was also informed that an Accountant General inspection team has been established to address public complaints related to financial matters. Speaking on the occasion, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi appreciated the overall performance of the Accountant General KP office and lauded its initiative to process salaries, pensions and other financial matters of provincial departments through an online system. He said ensuring transparent utilization of funds was essential for good governance in the province and the role of the Accountant General office in promoting financial transparency was of great importance. The Governor added that moving financial matters towards digitalization was a commendable step that had simplified the process of bill submission and approval for both government and private institutions.
