Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Wednesday said that efforts to support the affectees of Kurram were ongoing from day one and no stone would be left unturned in ensuring their relief and rehabilitation. He expressed these views while talking to a jirga of the Musazai tribe from Kurram. Chairman Pakistan Red Crescent Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Farzand Wazir was also present on the occasion. A jirga comprising representatives of various political parties, led by former federal minister Sajid Hussain Turi and Pakistan Peoples Party leader Malik Zaman Chamkani, apprised the Governor of issues, losses and difficulties faced by residents of Upper, Lower and Central Kurram in sectors including education, health, communications and other walks of life. The Governor said that efforts were still underway to ensure compensation for the affected people of Kurram. He added that Red Crescent was working under the governor’s supervision and directives had been issued to ensure that any relief goods received from donors were distributed among the Kurram affectees. He reaffirmed that all possible measures were being taken to maximize relief assistance for the victims, adding that he remained in direct contact with Sajid Hussain Turi during difficult times. Kundi said that the Pakistan Peoples Party, since the era of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, had always focused on the development of tribal areas whenever given the opportunity, and even today the party was raising its voice for the rights of tribal people and redressal of their grievances.
